Ambernath, it is one of the oldest city in Thane District. The city has been named from the ancient shiv-mandir 'Ambreshwar'. Ambarnath is the site of a very old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, dating back, to 10th century. It is a beautiful temple carved out of stone in Hemad style construction. Ambarnath lies on Mumbai to Pune, railway route.
Ambarnath is divided into east Ambarnath and west Ambarnath by railway. Ambarnath west is an industrial zone and is home to hundreds of small and large chemical factories. Many people also live in an area called Ordnance Estate which is meant for the Ordnance Factory nearby that manufactures artillery and bomb shells. It is primarily a metropolitan town like mumbai that houses people from different origins & places from across India.
Ambarnath east has beautifully planned residential housing society called Suryodaya Housing Society. probably the largest housing society of bungalows in entire Asia which contains more than 655 plots and covers around 4 km² of area.

   
 

The easiest and fastest way to reach Ambarnath is by the Mumbai suburban train.
It’s about an hours travel from Mumbai CST. Get to the Central line at CST. There are many direct trains from CST to Khopoli via Ambarnath. The frequency is roughly one train in every one hour.

The summers are warm and humid, with average temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. The winter temperatures drop to around 12 degrees Celsius.
